Stonewall Ponders

President/Owner

Stonewall “Stoney” Ponders has been in the funeral service industry since 1982 and has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Georgia since 1985; just recently, Stoney obtained his Funeral Director and Embalmer license in Florida and Tennessee. He’s a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, where he was class Vice President, as well as Chaplain of Pi Sigma Eta Fraternity. Stoney decided at a very young age that he wanted to be a funeral director and has dedicated himself to funeral service ever since. As the Founder and Owner of Ponders Funeral Homes, Stoney is honored and proud to work alongside his nephew.

Jason Gibson

Funeral Director/Embalmer in Georgia

Jason Gibson is the nephew of Stoney Ponders and has been a member of the Ponders Funeral Home staff since it opened in 1992. Jason is a graduate of the Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. Following in the footsteps of his uncle, Jason has dedicated his life to the funeral service industry. As a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Georgia, Jason feels privileged to be able serve the families that place their trust in Ponders Funeral Homes.

Yulanda Noland

Secretary/Treasurer

Yulanda Noland began her career with Ponders Funeral Home in 2014, bringing with her a strong foundation in social work and healthcare. She earned her master’s degree in Social Work through studies at Troy University and the University of Alabama. Originally from Demopolis, Alabama, Yulanda relocated to Dalton, Georgia in 1986. Her background in healthcare and her compassionate nature have made her a dedicated and valued presence in funeral service. Outside of work, she is an avid reader and a passionate Alabama football fan—Roll Tide!

Jerry Coughlin

Funeral Director / Embalmer in Georgia and Tennessee

Jerry Coughlin has been a member of the Ponders Funeral Home staff since 2009. Jerry graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, where he served as President of his class and Master Artist of Pi Sigma Eta fraternity. He was awarded the Bill Pierce and Daniel E Buchanan Awards. Jerry feels blessed to help guide families through very difficult and challenging times.

Mr. Clyde McEntyre of Calhoun joined the Ponders Funeral Home staff in the beginning of 2018. He is a lifelong resident of Gordon County. He is married to the former Pat Pasley who is his best friend. Clyde has 2 sons, Blake McEntyre and Bryan McEntyre, 2 daughters, Renva Porto and Pam Mills. He has 3 grandchildren, Monica, Maci, and Brett, and Taylor, who is basically his adopted grandchild. Clyde said he is blessed with a great family and friends. Clyde is a 1958 graduate of Calhoun High School and served his county in the United States National Guard. On January 18, 1981 he gave his life to the lord and asked for his forgiveness for his mistakes in his prior life. Since he has turned my life over to the Lord he has learned many things about life. He feels honored and privileged to work with Ponders Funeral Homes and help comfort families during their darkest hours. He will be available at any time if you call and ask for him. He knows he is where God wants him to be at this point in his life. Clyde said he loves everyone.
