Mr. Winfred Fred Dixon, age 91, of Rising Fawn, Georgia, departed this life on Friday October 2, 2020 at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Winfred was born March 25, 1929 in Murray County, Georgia, a son of the late Juel F. and Essie Brock Dixon. He was also preceded in death by his wife of forty three years, Frances Allen Dixon, his sons and daughter-in-law, Heartsell Dixon, Jack and Joan Dixon, daughter, Kathy Dixon, brothers, Johnny Dixon and George Dixon, sisters, Wilma English, Katherine Bowen, Pearl Ellis and Mary Crumbley, step-sons, James Allen Sharp and Donald Sharp.
Winfred was retired from Mayfield Dairy Farms.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Lamar Cantrell of Dalton, GA; daughter-in-law, Louise Dixon of Chatsworth, GA; son, Bobby Sharp of Tunnel Hill, GA; sister, Glenda Ann Satterfield of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Lamar and Nina Dixon, Sherry and Larry Burris, Jason Cantrell and his fiancée, Kira Dobbs, Jeremy Cantrell, Kevin Wofford and Cathy Sharp Parker; great-grandchildren, Zach Dixon, Samantha Dixon and Danielle Dixon; several nieces and nephews.
Grave side services to celebrate the life of Mr. Winfred Fred Dixon will be held Tuesday morning at 11:30 a.m., October 6, 2020 at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Tommy Crider and Reverend Noel Caldwell officiating. Lamar Cantrell, Lamar Dixon, Steve Ellis, Jimmy Ellis and Jonathan Sosebee will be honored to serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Due to the National health crisis and the Covid-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
