Obituary

Mr. Willie Ralph Pinyan, 89, of Pinyan Road in the Ryo community departed this life Sunday afternoon, February 16, 2020 in the comfort of his home. Mr. Pinyan was born on Burnt Mountain in Pickens County, Georgia on August 27, 1930.  He was a son of the late Willie Samuel Pinyan and Rosa Bell Reed Pinyan.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Mr. Pinyan was an ordained deacon at East Damascus Baptist Church.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He spent the greater part of his life as a poultry grower and farmer on the Pinyan Family Farm in the Ryo community near Fairmount, Georgia. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John L. "J.L." Pinyan; and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Pinyan.

Mr. Pinyan is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Ester West Pinyan; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Gary Waters; grandchildren, Matthew and Katy Waters, Stephen and Jessie Waters all of the Ryo community; his precious great-grandchildren, Chloe Waters, Bristol Waters, Lily Waters, Waylon Waters and Oaklynn Waters; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Brentsie Pinyan also of the Ryo community; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah Christephine and George Stewart of Hixson, Tennessee, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Willie Ralph Pinyan will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 2:00 PM from East Damascus Baptist Church.  Reverend Russel Nations and Reverend Tim McFarland will officiate.  Mr. Pinyan will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.  Stephen Waters, Matthew Waters, Anthony Pinyan, Keith Pinyan, Todd Poole, and Keith Parker will serve as active pallbearers.  Honorary Escorts will be George Stewart, Wesley Crook, and Bruce Mealer. Mr. Pinyan's family will receive friends on Monday, February 17, 2020 after 11:00 AM and after 10:00 AM on Tuesday until the service hour at Ponders Fairmount Chapel.
