Mr. William Bruce McCurdy Jr. age 100 of Dalton, Georgia, a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great, great grandfather, passed away Tuesday September 17, 2024, at his residence. He was born December 12, 1923, in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late William Bruce McCurdy Sr. and Mattie Ann Cook McCurdy. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Dessie Mae Brock McCurdy, daughter Carol Elaine McCurdy Hullender, sister and brother-in-law, Catherine McCurdy and Jesse Peters, Sybil McCurdy Headrick Henze; brothers and sisters-in-law J.W. and Annie McCurdy, Edward and Lucy McCurdy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Virgil and Magdalene Brock, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bertha Brock and Edward Thornton, Minnie Brock and T.M. Duncan, Mervis Gilbert, Sam Patterson, Beatrice Brock Kilgore, Marvin Kilgore, Pauline Brock and R.L. Dillard; sons-in-law, Donald Campbell, Joe Hullender, George Nelson.

He was a lifelong member of Maddox Chapel Baptist Church, where he acted as both deacon and choir director for many years. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Traditions Hospice staff, especially Mayra Salazar and Shana Blaine, for their excellent and loving care.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. William Bruce McCurdy Jr. will be held Friday September 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Shadwick officiating. Interment will follow in the Brock Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 11:00 a.m. on Friday until the service hour.
