Mr. William "Bill" Henry Gibson age 79, of Fairmount, Georgia, departed this life Thursday April 16, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Bill was born August 24, 1935 in Jasper, Georgia, a son of the late John and Inez McDaniel Gibson. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Claymon and Shirleen Gibson. Bill was a 1955 graduate of Fairmount High School. While in high school Bill was very good playing basketball. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was retired from the Army Corp of Engineers at Allatoona Dam in Cartersville, Georgia. He was also for many years a poultry farmer and cattle farmer. Bill enjoyed nothing more than spending time on his John Deere tractor. He was a F & AM Mason and a member of the Morning Star Lodge #349 at Fairmount, Georgia. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove "Ryo" Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Sosebee Gibson and would have celebrated their fifty-eighth wedding anniversary on October 5, 1957; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Elizabeth Gibson, Keith and Marilyn Gibson; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Larry Mulkey all of Fairmount. GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Sue Gibson of Fairmount, GA, Charles and Frances Gibson of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Brian Mulkey, Mandy Abercrombie, Crystal Crane, Kimberly Mulkey, Brittany Miller, Brandy Wooten, Cody Gibson, and Hannah Bell; fourteen great grandchildren, nieces and nephews,

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. William "Bill" Henry Gibson will be held Sunday April 19, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove "Ryo" Baptist Church with Reverend Harold Owens and Reverend Lamar Beason officiating. He will be laid to rest at the church cemetery with Charlie Long, Matthew Gibson, Harvey Long, Charlie Russell, Leroy Bayers, Jarred Bayers, Johnny Justice and Larry Satterfield as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112. The family will receive friends at the Ponders Fairmount Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Saturday and after 11:00 a.m. Sunday until the service hour.
