Mr. Wendell Wayne Gibson, age 69, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday evening at his home surrounded by his family. Wendell was born July 17, 1953 in Dalton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father Virgil Lee Gibson, mother Mary Lucille Mullins Gibson, brother Terry Gibson, wife Debbie Gibson, brother-in-law Leroy Mulkey. Wendell worked at Shaw Plant 4 for 35 years.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Cindy Ponders Tolliver; sons and daughter-in-law, Shawn Gibson, Jason and Jennifer Gibson all of Chatsworth, GA; step daughter and son-in-law, Kara and Wesley Currin of Dalton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and JoAnn Mullins of Dalton, GA; sisters, Deborah Mulkey, Cathy Gibson Lynn of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Crestlyn Gibson, Ethan Gibson, Dustin and Kassie Gibson, Max Gibson, Morgan Gibson; great grandson, Crimson Gibson; stepmom, Barbara Gibson; aunts and uncles, Ruth Langham, Jerry and Charlotte Gibson, Buddy and Irene Gibson, Ronnie and Loretta Gibson, Waymond and Martha Gibson, and Donnie Mullins; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Wendell Wayne Gibson will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Alan Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Murray Memorial Gardens with Jeff Gibson, Michael Gibson, Mark Long, James Long, Clay Powell and James Logan serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
