Obituary

Mr. Wendell Evans Allen Sr., age 69, of Dalton, Georgia, peacefully entered his eternal rest on Saturday morning, November 23, 2024, at Gordon Health Care.

Born on August 6, 1955, in Blue Ridge, Georgia, Wendell was the son of the late Clay Evans Allen Sr. and Marie Tankersley Allen. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Wendell "Pooh" Allen Jr.; his brothers, Jay, William, James Winston, Jackie, Clay Jr., Joe, Tommy, Ray, Stoney, Ellis, and Gary Allen; and his sisters, Annie Williams, Ruby Woods, Marie Ann West, and Elsie Allen.

Wendell was a man of deep faith, a devoted member of Calhoun Full Gospel Fellowship Church of Jesus Christ, and passionate about sharing the plan of salvation through Jesus Christ with everyone he encountered. His life was a testament to the love of Christ, which he reflected in his relationships with others.

He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Wendell came from a large, loving family, a legacy he carried forward in his own home with his wife of 48 years, Patricia Irene Hogue Allen.

Wendell found joy in the beauty of God's creation, whether camping or simply being outdoors. His genuine love for life and people was evident in his unwavering care for his family, his church, and those he encountered.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his sons, Robert Lee Allen of Ringgold, GA, and Michael (Dianna) Allen of Adairsville, GA; his cherished grandchildren, Carter Greyson Allen, Carlynn Marie Allen, and Carleigh Michelle Allen; his brothers, John Allen, Jimmy (Doris) Allen, and Charles (Mary Ann) Allen of Dalton, GA; his sisters, Betty Rich of Chatsworth, GA, and Linda (Larry) Pelfrey of Dalton, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family will celebrate Wendell's life on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Hershell Pierce and his son, Robert Allen, officiating. He will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Robert Allen, Michael Allen, Carter Allen, Camry Hogue, Braydon Hammontree, Landon Hammontree, Scott Hammontree, Garrett Conner, and Rodney Fowler. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 26, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday after 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Wendell's unwavering faith, devotion to his family, and love for sharing the Gospel will forever be remembered. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the faith he inspired.
