Mrs. Wanda Jean Thurman, age 72, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Monday, August 26, 2024 at Hamilton Medical Center.  Wanda was born December 20, 1951, in Copperhill, Tennessee, a daughter of the late James Floyd and Celia Cleo Lowery Tankersley. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Etta Sue Tankersley, brothers and sister-in-law, James Green, J. W. and Sandra Tankersley.

She worked many years at Lyle Industries.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Gracie Ketchem, Alyssa Rich; sisters, Ethelle Burris of Beverly Hills, FL, Geraldine Petkus of Ellijay, GA; sister-in-law, Patricia Green all of Chatsworth, GA: several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wanda Jean Thurman will be held Friday, August 30, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Shane Pierce officiating. She will be laid to rest with her sister at Center Valley Cemetery in Murray County, Georgia, with Richard Ausmus, Josh Stone, James Green, William Pack, Michael Hargraves and Wes Motley honored to serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
