In Loving Memory of Mrs. Wanda Sue Key

Mrs. Wanda Sue Key, age 74, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the local hospital. Born on August 9, 1949, in Copper Hill, Tennessee, Wanda was a beloved daughter of the late James and Helen Lowery Payne. She was also preceded in death by her cherished husband, Danny Key, and her siblings Roger Lynn Payne, Clyde Ray Payne, Maxine Latimer, and Della Dockery.

Wanda's life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. Her compassion touched everyone she met, and she had an extraordinary gift for making people feel valued and understood. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Wanda's family was the center of her universe. Her daughters, Pamela Sue (Mark) Sloan of Rocky Face, GA, and Tracey (Steve) Evans of Dalton, GA, were the pride of her life. She reveled in the joys of her grandchildren—Felicia and Heather Jackson, Brett and Andrea Hannah, Zach and Katie Sloan—and her great-grandchildren—Harper, Hudson, and Harrison.

Wanda's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. She was a loving sister to Danny (Pam) Payne of Lafayette, GA, Terry (Beverly) Payne of Chickamauga, GA, and Trish (Tim) Gilbreath of Lafayette, GA. She cherished her role as an aunt to several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Her generosity and warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Wanda's life was a rich tapestry of loving relationships and selfless acts of kindness. Her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire and comfort those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A service to celebrate the remarkable life of Mrs. Wanda Sue Key will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ponders Melrose Chapel, with Pastor Willie Bush and Reverend Terry Payne officiating. Interment will follow at the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 in Wanda's honor, reflecting the spirit of kindness she so beautifully embodied.
