Mrs. Wanda "Marie" Gentry Phillips, 93, died on Sunday evening, June 9, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Dalton, Marie was a graduate of the Dalton High School Class of 1943 and received her Business Degree from the Herren School of Business.

Marie worked for Mark Pace and Louise Hackney at the "Daily Citizen News" before partnering with Marjorie Rhodes of Rhodes Interiors and Drs. Barnwell and Blackman of Professional Eye Associates, until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willian and Ella Rich Gentry; her husband, William Maurice Phillips, Sr.; her son, William Maurice Phillips, Jr.; sisters and brothers. She is survived by her sons, Richard D. Phillips (Beth) of Ringgold, GA, and Thomas L Phillips of Dalton, GA; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 4:00 pm, at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Bishop Tony Ingle officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
