Mr. Walter Lee Broadus "Junior" Verhine, Jr. age 66, of White, Georgia, departed this life on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Piedmont Healthcare in Cartersville, Georgia.

Junior was born October 27, 1957, in Marietta, Georgia, son of the late Walter Lee Broadus "Pete" and Geraldine Ponders Verhine, Sr.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Terry Frances Verhine, sisters and brother-in-law, Kathy Weeks, Debbie and Horace Norrell and Ven Verhine, grandparents, Lawrence A. and Roxie Southerland Ponders and Roy Lee and Bertha Mae Atkins Verhine.

Junior was a 1975 graduate of Cass High School.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he retired after thirty-two years as a Sergeant First Class, Airborne Infantry. He was a member of Millers Chapel Full Gospel Church in White, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Tant Verhine of the residence; sons and daughter-in-law, Josh Verhine of White, GA, Ryan and Elizabeth of Rydal, GA; granddaughters, Anely Verhine and Isabell Verhine; step-children, Brody and Emily Dothand of Emerson, GA, Blake and Amanda Wade if Cartersville, GA, Megan and Cyrus Pratt of Taylorsville, GA, and Destiny Hodges of White, GA; step-grandchildren, Briar Dothand, Emery Dothand, Isla Pratt, Kaleb Wade, Kegan Wade, and Kalahan Wade; sister and brother-in-law, Pebbles and Doug Nichols of Rydal, GA; aunts and uncle, Anna and Wayne Harkins of Chatsworth, GA, and Vennette Padgett of Marietta, GA; mother-in-law, Martha Faye Tant of Silver Creek, GA; special friend, Rachel Findley of Fairmount, GA; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Walter Lee Broadus "Junior" Verhine, Jr. will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel with his family and friends sharing memories and honoring his life. He will be laid to rest with his wife, on Thursday morning, June 20, 2024, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, with full military honors. Calhoun American Legion Post #47 and Patriot Guard Riders will escort him from Fairmount, Georgia, to the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 1:00 p.m. Friday until the service hour.

The family will also receive friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel after 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning, June 20, 2024, and prior to departing for the cemetery.
