Mr. Walter Eugene "Gene" Tarvin, age 72 of Rocky Face, GA., departed this life on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Carl Vincent Hospital in Dublin, GA. Gene was born January 10, 1943 in Walker County a son of the late Walter Charles and Ruby White Tarvin. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Doris Allen.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Gina Tarvin of Harned, KY; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Travis Fields of Dalton, GA; brother-in-law, Joe Frank Allen of Clemson, SC; grandchildren, Christin and John Henry, Emily and Joshua Hicks, Brent Jones, Caroline Fields; great grandchildren, Ireland Henry, John Ross Henry, Holley Hicks; mother of his children, Sue Floyd of Dalton, GA; nephew, Trent and Ginger Allen of Clemson, SC; niece, Debbie and Bob Brackett of Florida.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Walter Eugene "Gene" Tarvin will be held Thursday April 30, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Chris Tarvin officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. American Legion Post 112 will be in charge of military rites.
