Mrs. Virginia Ann Rolen, age 69, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022, at the local hospital.  Ann was born July 11, 1953, in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Glenn B. and Helen Ruth Maddox Caldwell.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Caldwell and a son-in-law, Michael Smitherman.

Ann was very selfless, loved Jesus and her family. A wonderful wife and mother, beautiful, kind and never spoke an unkind word. She will be truly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-eight years, James "J.R." Rolen of the residence; son, Jeremy Maddox of Dalton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and James Byers of Dalton, GA, Sandra and Keith Turner of Villanow, GA, and Tammy Lee Smitherman of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Dustin Byers, Patrick Hall, Aaron Seal, Nicole Turner, Kolbee Walkey, Micah Walkey, and Blake Walkey; great grandchildren, Emerson Miller, Colton Smith, Greyson Smith, Ruby Turner and Peyton Turner; and many friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Virginia Ann Rolen will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Denny Smith officiating.  She will be laid to rest with her family at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Resaca, Georgia, with Durad Martin, Blake Walkey, James Byers, Dustin Byers, Shaun Tucker and Jeremy McMillian honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
