Obituary

Miss Josephine Virginia Cain, age 97, died on May 30, 2024, at Shepard Hills nursing home in Lafayette, Georgia.

She was born in Moultrie, Georgia, daughter of Bedford and Josephine Russ Cain. Her family moved to Albany, Georgia, where she lived for many years. In 1965, she became a licensed minister with the Georgia Assemblies of God and continued till her death. In 1973, she moved to Philadelphia, Mississippi, where she was a missionary to the Choctaw Indians. In 1975, she moved to Calhoun, Georgia, where she was one of the founding members of the Calhoun First Assembly of God which is now Redemption Church Calhoun. She taught the adult Sunday school class for many years. She was employed at Coronet Industries until her retirement in 1991.

While she had no children of her own, she has several nieces and nephews whom she had a great influence in their lives telling them about God and how he loves us.

Service to celebrate the life of Ms. Josephine Virginia Cain, will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. from the Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Patrick Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery at Hall Memorial. The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel after 1:30 p.m. Saturday until the service hour.
