Mrs. Vilinda C. Townsend Burchfield, age 90, of Dalton, Georgia, departed his life Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at her residence. Vilinda was born December 29, 1922 in Ellijay, Georgia, a daughter of the late Doc and Miranda Sanford Townsend. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sherman Burchfield, brothers, Bill Townsend, Talmer Townsend, Kinnel Townsend, sister, Madley Long.

She is survived by her son, J.D. Burchfield of Dalton, GA; daughter Ruby Lee Owens of Spring Place, GA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Vilinda C. Townsend Burchfield will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with her grandson serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday.
