Mrs. Valerie Michelle Hegwood, age 56, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at CHI Memorial Hospital.

Valerie was born October 26, 1967, in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Harold Eugene and Margaret Caldwell Goswick.  Valerie was a 1985 graduate of Southeast High School, and graduated with honors from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. She was a florist, home-maker and freelance writer.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin Hegwood, and would have celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on September 18, 2024; by her daughter and son, Georgia and Harley Hegwood of Dalton, GA; sisters, Virginia McCalley of Dalton, GA; Vanessa and Gary Wright of Cleveland, TN; brother, Edwin and Debbie Goswick of Athens, GA; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Valerie Michelle Hegwood will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024, with visitation for family and friends starting at 1:00pm, and service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bruce Beach officiating. She will be laid to rest with her parents at Cove Cemetery.
