Mrs. Travene Owens Strickland, age 71, lifelong resident of Calhoun, Georgia, died Saturday morning October 28, 2017. She was born on November 19, 1945, daughter of the late Travis and Montene Garren Owens. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Gary C. Owens and grandson, Joey Cooper. She graduated from Calhoun High School and Rome Beauty School. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Jerry M. Strickland; her daughter, Angelina Cooper; her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Vicki Strickland; her granddaughter, Lauren Strickland; her sister, Lawanda Ralston; nephews and a niece.

Service to honor the life of Mrs. Travene Owens Strickland will be held Monday October 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from the Belmont Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Williams and Dr. John Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery with Glen Tendall, Tony Erwin, Larry Dempsey, Alfred Knight, Stephen Ralston and Edwin Ralston Serving as pallbearers. The Sportsman Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday October 30, 2017.
