Mr. Tommy Odell Thompson, age 76, of Dalton, Georgia departed this life, Saturday morning, January 14, 2023 at his home.

Tommy was preceded in death by both parents, Cleve Odell Thompson and Edith Beasley Thompson, sister Patricia Ann Shook Durden and nephew Len Burns.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Laraine Day Thompson, son Scott Thompson (Frances), daughter Christa Thompson Glaze (Greg) and brother Gary Thompson (Kim). Loving grandchildren, Alex Thompson (Mary), Adrian Thompson, Averey Glaze and Callyn Glaze. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Hugh Burns, Brad Burns, Shane Shook, Vaughn Cox, Michael Thompson, Lori Thompson Poss and Christopher Thompson. Beloved family members Dianne Thompson and Gertrude Burns and beloved special daughter Carrie Ann Holsomback. Tommy also leaves behind his obedient and loving dog, Brody.

Tommy was an engineer in the carpet industry for 50 years. He had the technical ability to repair almost any machine, engine or appliance and had every tool imaginable to make it happen. In his spare time, Tommy was an avid fisherman and deer hunter and loved gardening. He enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs and Nascar, when not watching the History Channel.

The family is thankful for care provided by Amedisys Hospice Care and especially Leah Wells and her care and compassion.

Graveside service will be held Saturday January 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the West Hill Cemetery with Larry Hayes officiating.
