Mr. Thomas Eugene "Tommy" McHan, Jr. , age 81, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday, February 24, 2023, at his residence.

Tommy was born September 11, 1941, in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Thomas Eugene and Florene Chance McHan, Sr.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry "Rocky" McHan, Kenneth Paul "Butch" McHan and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Sosebee.

Tommy proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Air Force. He was the former owner of T & M Variety Store in Tunnel Hill, Georgia, for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Porter McHan of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel McHan, Jason Rogers, Kevin and Krista McHan, James Dean Rogers and Robin Howard all of Dalton, GA, and Martin and Sue Rogers of Jonesboro, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Kevin King of Ellijay, GA, and Cheryle Ann and Paul Crowe of Cleveland, TN; sister, Judy Sosebee of Dalton, GA; sister-in-law, Pat McHan of Centre, AL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Thomas Eugene "Tommy" McHan will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel.  He will be laid to rest with his family at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Jason Rogers, Bryan Sosebee, Kevin McHan, Scottie Sosebee, Justin Brock, and Chuck Tammellwell serving as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
