Mrs. Sybile Stewart Brooks, age 72, of Opp, Alabama, departed this life Friday evening, December 22, 2017 in the comfort of her home. Sybile was born June 3, 1945 in Covington County, Alabama, a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Pearl (Buck) Stewart. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life and devoted husband of fifty-three years, Arlie Ray Brooks, on May 14, 2015, three infant children, Thomas Allen Brooks, Susan Brooks, and Sandy Brooks, her brothers, Wayne Stewart and Jack Stewart, her sisters, Mary Lois Tisdale, Agnes Bledsole and Lucille Johnson Lee.

She was retired from the Opp City School System where she worked in the cafeteria for over twenty-four years at Opp Middle School. In 1992, along with her husband and son founded the Triple B Poultry Farm. She was a proud member of the Southside Baptist Church for over forty years and loved working in the nursery.

Although Sybile was bedfast for the past fifteen years she never complained.

She is survived by her son and son-in-law, Gary Brooks and Mike Giunta of Opp, AL:; sister, Jeanette McCall of Wetumpka, AL; brothers, Bo and Lillian Stewart of Opp, AL, and Kenneth and Barbara Stewart of Daleville, AL; sisters-in-law, Louise Jernigan of Kinston, AL, Winnie McCarty of Warner Robins, GA and Nettie Brooks of Phenix City, AL; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Sybile Stewart Brooks will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Southside Baptist Church (S. Jackson St., Opp, AL, 36467) with Reverend Stewart Young officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Southside Baptist Church, Opp, Al, after 12:00 p.m. Noon Friday until the service hour.
