Sue was born on November 18, 1934, in Rabun County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Denver Sylvester and Myrtie Mildred Watts York. She was a 1952 graduate of Rabun County High School and married her high school sweetheart on January 23, 1953. Sue was retired from Wachovia Bank after twenty-five years of dedicated service and was a faithful member of Dalton First Baptist Church.

Sue was a very petite, quiet, and reserved lady — the gentle opposite of her outgoing husband, Bob. She was sweet-natured, extremely beautiful, and carried herself with grace and humility. In her younger years, she was crowned Miss Rabun Beauty Queen. Sue took pride in her appearance and especially loved having her hair styled and her nails done every Tuesday, a tradition she cherished.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband and high school sweetheart, Robert Lee "Bob" Patterson, who passed away on September 14, 2016; her sister and brother-in-law, Maudene and Frank James; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Doyle Payne.

Sue was deeply devoted to her family and leaves behind a legacy of love and quiet strength. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Patterson and Kenneth Padgett; her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Pam Patterson, all of Dalton, Georgia; grandchildren, Jason and Christy Patterson, Jaime and Tremayne Pender, and Luke Padgett; great-grandchildren, Aiden Patterson, Jaci Patterson, Ainslee Martin, Alex Martin, Sydnee Pender, Sophia Pender, and Sloan Pender; great-great-grandchildren, Anniston Towns and Jett Towns; sister and brother-in-law, Lorine and Curtis Beck of Clayton, Georgia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Curtis and Celeste York of Clayton, Georgia, and Carlton and Nawana York of Tiger, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jane and Larkin Oliver of Duluth, Georgia, Joyce Patterson of Asheville, North Carolina, and Delmo and Caroline Patterson of Tiger, Georgia; along with several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Sue Von Patterson will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Phillip Cannon. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers honored to serve will be Aiden Patterson, Jason Patterson, Kenneth Padgett, Shane Beck, Fred Beck, and Brett James.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel on Wednesday after 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
