Mr. Steve Monroe Elders, age 83, of Dalton, Georgia, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Ridgewood Manor Health and Rehabilitation. Steve was born on March 17, 1940 to the late Barney W. Elders, Sr. and Lillie Mae (Goswick) Elders. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mabel Louise Elders, sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille (R.L.) Stanley, Ruth (Terry) Thompson, brothers, Charles Elders and Jimmy Elders, brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Bob) & Ruby Johnson Elders, Barney W. Jr. (B.W.) & Daisy Callahan Elders. Brother-in-law Junie (J.J.) Lowman

He is survived by his sister, Bernice (Elders) Lowman along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Steve was of the Baptist Faith. He attended Valley Point High School where in later years he was a member of the Valley Point Ruritan Club. He especially enjoyed taking part in Ruritan's Ham and Turkey shoots and working on the many programs within the organization. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1962 to 1964 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, The Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldog football, Deep Sea fishing or dropping a line in one of the area lakes. He also enjoyed watching softball, men's or women's and attending softball League and Tournament games at Dalton Parks and Recreation. He worked in the Carpet industry for many years retiring from Dorsett Carpet in 2006. After his retirement he continued to stay active spending time with family and friend during the Holidays and special occasions. He will be missed by many.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Steve Monroe Elders will be held Wednesday July 5, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Lewis Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Chris Wallace, Brenin Wallace, Allen Elders, Jeremy Ridley and Case Mathis will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Ridgewood Manor for all the love and care they gave to Mr. Elders.
