Mrs. Stella Evelyn Woody, age 89, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday evening, May 7, 2024 at Regency Park surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 17, 1934 in Pueblo, Colorado, a daughter of the late Charlie R. and Evelyn Cables. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Ralph Woody, son Randall Wayne Woody, bothers, Dawson Cables, Charles A. Cables, sisters Frances Long, Jeraldean Jackson McBrayer, Josephine Rogers.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, William Woody of Calhoun, GA, Lewis and Dede Woody of Newnan, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Billy Thomas of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer and Scott Wells, Sydney and Jacob Sauls, John Woody, Katie Woody; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Michael, Ashton, Ethan, Grayson; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Stella Evelyn Woody will be held Friday May 10, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Larry Wood officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and son at the New Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
