Mr. Starling Lawson age 66 of Dalton, GA, departed this life Monday February 25, 2019 at the local hospital. He was born March 6, 1952 in Scott County, TN, a son of the late Millard and Delphia Harness Lawson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Lawson, nephew, Steven Lawson, brothers-in-law, Donald Chambers, J.T. Gibson, Ohmer Harness, Billy Morrison.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Shirley Morrison Lawson of the residence; son, Wesley and Michalle Davis of Eton, GA; daughter, Angela Maynard of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Sierra, Shiloh, and Sheldon Davis;  brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Ellen Lawson of Huntsville, TN, Lester and Becky Lawson of Pioneer, TN, Cathy Lawson of Huntsville, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred Gibson of Huntsville, TN, Charlene Chambers of Straight Fork, TN, Imagene Harness of Huntsville, TN, Madgelene and Kenneth Ailor of Knoxville, TN, Deanna and Raymond Higgins, Charlotte and Eric Goad of Dalton, GA; sister-in-law, Kay Henderson; brother-in-law, Bruce Morrison; special friend and fishing buddy, James Davis all of Eton, GA; special friends, Beau Long,  Allen Young of Spring Place, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Starling Lawson will be held Friday March 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bull Creek Baptist Church in Huntsville, TN with Sam Harness, Reverend Dudley Harness and Reverend Charlie Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He will lie in state at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The family will receive friends at Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tony Harness, Randy Harness, Tyler Harness, Daniel Harness, Chris Harness and Brian Gibson serving as pallbearers.
