Mr. Stanley Phillip Franklin, age 66, of Dalton, GA, departed this life, Saturday November 6, 2021 at Erlanger Medical Center. Stanley was born May 22, 1955 in Dalton, GA, the son of the late Charles L. and Lillian M. Wells Franklin and stepfathers Ralph Bell and Thomas Johns. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Franklin.

Stanley was installed as the 100 ^th Commander of Georgia American Legion in 2018. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge, SAL/ALR, 40 & 8 Society and Chatsworth American Legion Post 167. Stanley loved to be involved in all services that helped veterans.

Mr. Stanley Phillip Franklin is survived by his wife, Edna Pierce Franklin, son, Stanley and Tiffany Franklin of Eton, Georgia; daughter, Krista and Billy Thomason of Calhoun, Georgia; brothers, Jack and Yvette Franklin of Crandall, Georgia, Steve Franklin of Florida, Keith and Teresa Franklin of Adairsville, Georgia, Randy and Debbie Franklin of Denton, Texas; sister, Patricia and Paul Tatham of Calhoun, Georgia; step-mother, Joyce Franklin; step-sisters, Debbie Johns and Sherry Jons; grandchildren, Colby and Jasmine Sexton, Blaine Franklin, Logan Franklin, Carson Thomason, Katlyn and Joseph Gregory; great-grandchildren, Shane Sexton, Callie Sexton, Ava Sexton and Lilly Sexton; sisters-in-law, Martha and Larry Greer, Laura Byers, MaeDell Pierce; brother-in-law, Robert Greene; special friends, Rudy Owenby, Terry Earley, Johnny and Connie Bennett, Charlie Cox, Scottie Compton, Dewy Moss, Eddie and Nadine Asberry special nephew, Anthony Greene. Stanley is also survived innumerable family and friends throughout the country and beyond.

Service to celebrate the life of Stanley will be held Thursday December 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Chaplain Michael Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow the service at West Hill Cemetery with Terry Earley, Carson Thomason, Anthony Greene, Tobie Burke, Quincey Myers, Scottie Compton, Colby Sexton, Blaine Franklin and Logan Franklin having the honor as serving as pallbearers. Chatsworth American Legion Post 167 in charge of the military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends December 8, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel.
