Mrs. Sophia Parker age 98, departed this life Thursday, August 27, 2020 at her home. She was born April 3, 1922 in Pahl, Germany, a daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa Obermeier Lichtenstern. He was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Richard Parker, who died October 31, 2018 and her only child, her son Antonio Parker, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, J.C. Parker, McKinley and Mary Parker, Houston and Bertha Parker,  Ora and George Childers, Tennie and Sercart Davis, Lois and Laut Pulliam, Lilly Parker.

She worked as a cashier at the Army P.X. in Germany where she met her future husband.

Sophia is survived by her granddaughter, Sophia "Mousey" Berger; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Edna Parker of Dalton, GA, John and Linda Parker of Knoxville, TN, Bill and Margie Parker of Calhoun, GA; niece, Debbie Brewster of Dalton, GA; several other nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Sophia Parker will be Thursday evening September 3, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bobby Overby officiating. The family will meet with friends after 5:00 P.M. until the service on Thursday. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
