Mr. Sherman Shoemaker passed away Friday morning, June 28, 2013. He was born October 10, 1930, Sherman was the last surviving child born to the late Lillie Lee and Henry Shoemaker. He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.
Sherman was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Beulah Maney Shoemaker in 2010 and his son Scott Shoemaker in 1995.
Sherman was a musician for over fifty years. He will be remembered by so many for his appearances at churches, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and benefits for numerous folks. He loved " picking his little guitar and singing his little songs. " He loved to joke and make people happy. He made lifelong friends with so many musicians over the years.
Daddy leaves many memories to cherish, his children Wanda and Bill Guess, Sherry Wimpey, Becky Lynch, and Joan and Terry Price. Pop adored his grandchildren, Jason Price, Jeremy and Rene Price, Josh and Michelle Price, Mandy and Matt Key, Zack and Nina Wimpey, Haley and Coby Silvers, Todd and Carson Newberry, and Matthew Lynch and fianc Ashley Hale.
Pop' knew that his great-grandchildren were put on this earth just for him. Colin Price, Cody Price, Chloe Price, Ashlyn Price, Tristen Key, Jade Key, Preston Key, Taylor Wimpey, and Kylee Silvers. Also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and so many friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Sherman Shoemaker will be held Sunday June 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Marlin officiating. He will be laid to rest at United Memorial Gardens with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday June 29, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and also Sunday morning after 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
