Shelomo "Sid"
Wugalter
October 6, 1933 – May 17, 2026
Mr. Shelomo Wugalter, age 92 of Chattanooga, Tennessee, departed this life on Sunday morning May 17, 2026, at his residence.
On May 17, 2026, we bid farewell to Shelomo – Sid – Wugalter, a remarkable soul who lived an extraordinary 92 years. Born on October 6, 1933 in Tel Aviv his journey through life was rich with love, a legacy of cherished memories and a LOT of laughter.
Sid started his air traffic career in the Air Force and then continued as an air traffic controller and then management, where he retired as a high-ranking official in the Air Traffic division of the FAA. His profession gave him great pride, but not as much as his love for his family, whom he loved fiercely and spoke of with immense pride.
He found a second family in the Chabad community in Chattanooga, where his warmth was embraced by all.
Charlene Wugalter, his beloved wife, survives him carrying forth the love they shared. To his family, he was not just a husband and father and Pop Pop to his grand and great grands, but a consummate storyteller.
The family invites all who knew and loved Sid to a graveside service on May 19, at 11:00 am at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, located at 4621 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga. Following the service the family will accept condolences at their home, 776 Tiger Lily Trail, Chattanooga.
Sid’s legacy is one of love, connection and the joy of sharing stories- some real, some fictional but always with his huge smile and those stories and that smile will live on in all who loved him.
Arrangements are entrusted to Ponders Brainerd Chapel, 4203 Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga, TN. (423) 531-4002.
