Scott Anthony Moreland, 47, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life suddenly on Monday, February 12, 2018 at his home.

Scott was born in East Point, Georgia, on March 15, 1970, the son of Betty Warner Moreland Matthews and the late J.C. Moreland. Along with his father he was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Dora Bell Moreland and James Moreland.

Scott was employed by Paladin in Chattanooga, Tennessee as a welder. He was an expert welder, including under water welding and more. He could handle any task put before him, he loved working on vehicles. Most recently he had taught himself to make wood sculptures using a chainsaw. He loved animals with all his heart, and would take all strays in and make sure they were fed and cared for. He had a dog he loved dearly, Kia, and several cats as well. Scott was also a very talented musician who loved to play the guitar. He would help anyone, with anything at all, at any time.

Scott is survived by his mother, Betty Moreland Matthews of Pine Log; daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Matthew Jenkins of Cartersville; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer Matthews Lingerfelt and Blake; grandchildren, Henry and Kaden Jenkins; nieces and nephew, Tyler and Ella Steward, and Anna Lingerfelt; several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Scott Moreland will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Brother Clyde McEntyre officiating.

Entombment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens in Cartersville, Georgia.

Scott's family will receive friends on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour of 2:00 P.M.
