Scott
McKinstrie
June 1, 1970 – April 17, 2026
Scott William McKinstrie, born June 1, 1970, passed away on April 17, 2026, in Dalton, Georgia.
He was a devoted father, a hardworking man, and someone who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. For over 25 years, he shared a life filled with memories, challenges, and love alongside Roslyn McKinstrie, with whom he raised their four daughters. Though life had recently taken a different path, the family they built remains a lasting bond.
Scott was a proud graduate of Deltona High School’s first graduating class, where he stood out as a soccer star, earning recognition across the state of Florida. His love for the game lives on through his daughter, Paige McKinstrie, who proudly carries on that legacy.
In 2004, he founded 5 Star Lawn & Pest Control with just one truck and a determination to succeed, going door to door to build what would become a thriving business. Through years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, he grew 5 Star into what it is today—a true reflection of his drive and commitment to providing for his family.
Scott was not only dedicated to his family and work, but also to the people in his life. He was a loyal and devoted friend who made it a point to stay in touch, reach out, and be there for others. He held no grudges, choosing instead to lead with understanding, connection, and kindness—qualities that made him deeply valued by those who knew him.
Above all, he was proud of his daughters, who were the center of his world. He is survived by his daughters, Brittany Powers, Courtney McKinstrie, Taylor McKinstrie, and Paige McKinstrie.
He is also survived by his mother, Carol McKinstrie; his brothers, Todd McKinstrie (Jennifer McKinstrie) and Nicholas McKinstrie; his nephews, Peyton McKinstrie, Cayden McKinstrie, Landon McKinstrie, and Nathan McKinstrie; and his niece, Addison McKinstrie. He was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” McKinstrie.
Scott will be remembered for his work ethic, his determination, his loyalty to those he loved, and the legacy he leaves behind through his family and the business he built from the ground up.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at The Wet Spot, 112 S Park Ave, Sanford, FL 32771, where family and friends are invited to gather and honor his memory.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him. Ride on Scott.
