Mrs. Sandra Sue Ponders, age 73, of Chatsworth, Georgia,
departed this life Monday afternoon, October 26, 2015 at the
Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Georgia. Sandra was born June 13,
1942 in Dalton, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Tony G. Ponders, Sr., a son, Adam Ponders, a daughter-
in-law, Debbie Ponders, her father and step-mohter, Carl and
Bonnie Pack, mother and step-father, Marie Shoemaker Chitwood
and Max Chitwood and a sister, JoAnn Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Donna and
Robert Swartout of Trion, GA, Pam Caldwell of Chatsworth, GA;
sons, Terry Ponders and Tony Ponders both of Chatsworth, GA;
grandchildren, Anthony Bishop, Jason Bishop, Sandra Carter,
LaDonna Hamlin, April Williams, Christy Ponders, Amanda Dawn
Ponders, Robert "Goob" Adams and Samantha Wright; sisters,
Linda Aaron and Joyce Ann Pack; brothers, David Chitwood,
Danny Pack and Donald Pack; thirteen great-grandchildren, several
nieces and nephews; special friends, Stoney Ponders, Debra Oliver
and Vanessa Brogran.
Services to celebrate the life Mrs. Sandra Sue Ponders will be held
Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose
Chapel with Brother George Cross officiating. She will be laid to
rest beside her beloved husband at Colonial Hills Memorial Park
Cemetery with Junior Verhine, Robert Swartout, Anthony Bishop,
Jason Bishop, David Chitwood, LaDonna Hamlin, Robert Adams
and Cara Sibold serving as pallbearers. The family will receive
friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the service hour.
