Mr. Samuel "Floyd" Jenkins Sr., age 98, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Gordon Health and Rehab, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 18, 1926, he was the son of the late Sylvester Commodore Jenkins and Iva Ann Silvers Jenkins. Samuel was preceded in death by his wife Lillian May Pratt Jenkins, son-in-law, Alton "Big Al" Gentry, grandson Chassey Brafford, siblings, Leonard Tate and Arlivia Jenkins, Willard and Bertha Jenkins, D.L. And Janice Jenkins, Pauline and Bryce Ellis.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Church of God of The Union Assembly.

He is survived by his, children, Samuel Floyd Jenkins, Jr., of Dalton, GA; Marlene Jenkins of Denver, NC; Donna E. Gentry of Dalton, GA, Rena Brafford of Cohutta, GA; grandchildren, LaDane and Beatrice Gentry, Joel and Megan Gentry, Denetra and Shane Sowder, Ashley McBrayer, Charlon and Rachelle Brafford, Torey Brafford, Jeston Brafford, Kevin Brafford, and Jillian Brafford; great-grandchildren, Devin and Bailey Gentry, Andrew Sowder, Adam Sowder, Maddox McBrayer, Owen McBrayer, Audrey McBrayer, Isla Gentry, Keaton Brafford, Torey Brafford, Jr., Landen Brafford, Jaydon Brafford, Jullie Brafford, Jazmin Vance, Elijah Brafford, Grace Brafford, Faith Brafford, and Jeston Brafford, Tammy Gail Beebe; great-great-grandchildren, Collins Gentry, Halston Gentry, and Knox Gentry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Floyd's life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of God of The Union Assembly, with Reverend Charlon Brafford, Reverend Charlie Pratt and Reverend Stoney Kiser officiating. He will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery, with Adam Sowder, Andrew Sowder, Shane Sowder, Keaton Brafford, Joel Gentry and TJ Brafford serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday until the time of service.
