Mr. Sammy Joe Cox, age 78, of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life Sunday morning, April 13, 2014 at the Calhoun Health Care in Calhoun, Georgia. Joe was born January 9, 1938 in the Chief Vann house at Spring Place, Georgia, a son of the late Joseph Basil and Doris Ellis Cox. He was also preceded in death by his only sister, Margaret Cox Roe. He was a 1956 graduate of Dalton High School. He was employed many years at the Ford Motor Company and was the owner of Cox's Auto Parts.

He is survived by his companion of twenty-five years, Barbara Bramblett of Resaca, GA; son, Gregory Allen Cox; daughter and son-in-law, Terri Cox White and David Sullivan; grandchildren, Andrew White, Valerie White and Bailie Cox all of Dalton, GA; step-children, Monica Bramblett and James Bramblett, and Tammy Sills; great-grandson, Jacoby Bramblett of Resaca, GA; many other relatives and close friends.

Services to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, 16, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
