Mr. Sam Russell, age 78 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 11, 1942 in Ellijay, GA a son of the late Charlie Hoke and Pauline Quarles Russell. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Huey Russell, John Lendol Russell, grandparents, Dr. C.C. Russell and wife Minnie, Reverend John Quarles and wife Della. He was a member of Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, June Seritt Russell of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Melissa Russell; daughter, Karen Wojcik; grandson, Matthew Wojcik all of Resaca, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Bradford and Brenda Russell of Dalton, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Jane Russell of St. Augustine, FL, Louise and William Payne of Chatsworth, GA, Lillian and Vernon Gordon of Dalton, GA; nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved church family.
Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Sam Russell will be held Sunday August 8, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Charlie Hamm and Reverend George Ross officiating. Interment will follow in the Swamp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
