Ms. Sadie Nix, age 80, of Cohutta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the local hospital.
Sadie was born February 17, 1945, in Cartersville, Georgia, a daughter of the late Edgar William and Easter Lou Baker Gravitt. She was also preceded in death by a niece, Cathy Nix; a nephew, Joseph Morton; her brothers, J.C. Gravitt and David Wayne Gravitt; and a sister, Sue Gravitt.
Though life was not always easy and she had little formal education, Sadie Nix was a true survivor. She faced life's challenges with determination and unwavering spirit. Her love for her family was deep and constant — the center of her world. Her legacy is one of strength, endurance, and the joy she found in life and loved ones.
Sadie is survived by her son, Jackie Dewayne and Jana Pack of Cohutta, GA; daughter, Diane Marie Pack of Calhoun, GA; grandchildren, Shalana and Jacob Conry, Jackie and Tisha Pack, Jr., Tiffany and Lance Merritt, Cherie and Corey McDermott, and James and Haley Pack; great-grandchildren, Brantley Pack Conry, Bo Conry, Shayla Conry, Natalie Parsons, Weston Merritt, Mallory McDermott, Makayla McDermott, Charlie McDermott, Skyleigh Pack, Chloe Pack, Lakelynn Pack, Levi Sandoval and Daven McWhorter; brother and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Martha Gravitt of Fairmount, GA, and Retha Corn of Dalton, GA; sisters, Jeanette and Ricky Morton, Ella Mae and Roy Boyd all of Chatsworth, GA, and Carolyn and Grover Nix of Dalton, GA; uncle, Carl Baker of Dalton, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Sadie Nix will be held Monday morning, July 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Pope officiating. She will be laid to rest at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Cohutta, Georgia, with Corey McDermott, Lance Merritt, Jacob Conry Isaac Morton, Austin Morton, and Dillion Allen honored to serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. Monday morning until the service hour.
