Ms. Ruth Blankenship, age 89, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life Sunday afternoon, January 1, 2023, at the home of her granddaughter.

Ruth was born March 7, 1933, in Gordon County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Tom and Jessie Junkins Blankenship.  She was also preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Diane Banks, sisters, Helen Stabenow, Pearl Scott and Mildred Hand and her brothers, Ben Blankenship, Jimmy Blankenship.  Ruth retired from Wal-Mart.

She attended the First Baptist Church in Calhoun, Georgia.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Cindy Banks of Calhoun, GA; brother, Gene Blankenship; grandchildren, Nicole and James Sikes, Bryan and Marci Banks, Jason and Cathy Banks, Kim Banks, and Kailyn Banks; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Ruth Blankenship will be held Thursday morning, January 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Brother Clyde McEntyre officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Haven of Rest Cemetery with Jamie Scott, Mitchell Scott, Andy Blankenship, Jeff Blankenship, Brandon Sikes, and Dylan Sikes honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the service hour.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.pondersfuneralhome.com .
