Mrs. Ruby Marie Newton, age 89, of Dalton, GA, departed this life, Friday August 20, 2021 at her residence. She was born January 2, 1932 in Murray County, GA, a daughter of the late Wynn and Bessie Starcher Blassingame. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Willis Newton, brother, Charles Blassingame, sisters, Glenda Blassingame, Winnie Taylor, Virginia Bevoir, Ava Yeakey, Shirley Blassingame, Frankie Blassingame, Margret Rhudy.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Becky Newton of Dalton, GA; granddaughter, Tiffany and Nick Runion; great grandchildren, Keith Callaway, Keegan Runion all of Dalton, GA; brothers and sister-in-law, JD and Bert Blassingame of Alabama, Wallace Blassingame, Teddy Blassingame of Dalton, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Evonne and Bob Wasserman of Chatsworth, GA, Peggy Lewallen of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ruby Marie Newton will be held Monday August 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Merlrose Chapel with Pastor James Whaley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday. She will be laid to rest in the Holly Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
