Mrs. Ruby Emalease Hamrick Townsend, age 100, of Fairmount, Georgia, departed this life Monday January 13, 2014 at Piedmont Hospital. Emalease was born on June 22, 1913 in Pea Ridge, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Molly Crawford Hamrick, brothers ,Grady, Earl and E.W Hamrick, sisters, Eula Graham, Pearl Jones, Jewel Townsend, Ethell Parker. She was also preceded by her husband Reverend William Townsend, sons, Edward and Clyde Townsend and a daughter Ruthelle Townsend Collis. Emalease is survived by her sons and daughters in law; Billy and Patricia Townsend of Fairmount, James Townsend of Fairmount, Shirley Townsend of Jerusalem, Mandy Townsend of Ludville, six grandchildren; Bo Townsend, Tracy Burtons, Scott Townsend, Nanny Hales, Linda Townsend and Susan Snider, and a sister Odell Crook of Calhoun. She had several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ruby Emalease Hamrick Townsend will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel with Reverend Leon Goodwin officiating. Music will be provided by Imogene Hall and Annette Cross. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Pleasant Grove (RYO) Cemetery with Bo Townsend, Robbie Hales, Mitchell Hales, Oren Townsend, Arvil Townsend and R.L. Parker will serve as pallbearers with Stanley Mulkey serving as honorary pallbearer. The Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday at Ponders Funeral home in Fairmount.
