Mr. Rubin Edward Norris, age 81, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Monday December 1, 2014 at his home. Rubin was born March 17, 1933 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Emerson Lee and Annie Dickenson Norris. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Baggett Norris, a daughter-in-law, Dianne Norris and brothers, Emmitt Norris, Larry Dean Norris and R.C. Norris.

Rubin was retired from Modern Marketing Aids and was a member of the Valley Baptist Church. Rubin loved mowing yards, riding his John Deere tractor and making a garden.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Garry Norris, Terry and Debbie Norris; grandchildren, Jennifer and Scott Cavanaugh, Brandy and Matt Adams, Matthew and Kim Norris; great-grandchildren, Hannah McClain, Trey Sutton, Ethan Cavanaugh, Seth Rance, Layla Norris, Rylan Adams and Braelyn Adams all of Dalton, GA; brothers, James, Billy, Troy, Cecil, William and Bob Norris all of Guin, AL; sister, Velma Johnson of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Rubin Edward Norris will be held Thursday morning, December 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Billy Joe Cochran and Reverend Scott Parrish officiating. He will be laid to rest at United Memorial Gardens with Gary Hayes, Hugh Don Sanford, Jerry Collins, Trey Sutton, Gary Harris, Matt Adams and Scott Cavanaugh serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the service hour.
