Obituary

Ronald Lee Walraven, 72, of Old Rome Dalton Road in the Oostanaula Community, departed this life late Sunday afternoon, September 6, 2020 at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.

A lifelong resident of Calhoun and Gordon County Mr. Walraven was born at the former Johnston-Hall Clinic on August 17, 1948.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Roy Lee and Ruby Lee Parker Walraven.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Annie Mae White; and brother-in-law, Gary P. White.

Mr. Walraven was the oldest of six siblings.  He was a 1966 graduate of Calhoun High School and a 1972 graduate of The Terry School of Business at the University of Georgia.  He and his wife were charter members of Agape Baptist Church in Calhoun.  Mr. Walraven had a part in suggesting and picking the name for Agape Baptist Church and also served as the treasurer at the church for a number of years.  He retired from Mohawk Industries in 2010 where he had worked as an accountant.

He is survived by his loving wife of over forty years, Karen White Walraven to whom he was married to on November 21, 1976; sons and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Laura Walraven all of Calhoun, Thomas Walraven of Stillwater, Oklahoma; his only grandchild, Maelee Jane Walraven; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles "Charlie" and Janice Walraven, James and Janice Walraven all of Calhoun; sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy Fulmer of Ringgold, Georgia, Sandra and Randy McCoy, and Deborah Edmonds all of Calhoun; sister-in-law, Martha White of Calhoun;  a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends, and church family also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Ronald Walraven will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Winford Casey and Reverend Bryan Childs officiating.  Randall Talley will provide musical selections.  Private interment will follow at a later date at Chandler Cemetery.

The Walraven family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers please donate in loving memory of Mr. Ronald Walraven to Agape Baptist Church, PO Box 1014, Calhoun, Georgia 30703.

Due to the National health crisis and the Covid-19 virus, masks must always be worn properly inside the funeral home and social distancing must be observed.
