Obituary

Mr. Roger Lewis "Bay" Braswell, age 59, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, departed this life at Hospice Care Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on January 7, 2025.

Bay was born on October 4, 1965, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, to the late Earnest Carl and Catherine Florence Braswell. A 1983 graduate of Chattanooga Valley High School in Flintstone, Georgia, Bay carried a spirit that was as big as his heart.

Bay was known to never meet a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone, a trait that earned him the nickname "Radio" from his father. He had a true love for life and a love for walking, often finding peace in the rhythm of his steps. No matter where he went, Bay's presence was felt, and he touched the lives of many with his kindness and infectious energy.

Bay loved his family dearly, and his devotion to them was unwavering. He was a proud father and a doting grandfather, and the memories of his laughter, love, and endless stories will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones.

Despite the challenges he faced in life, including many years spent battling Gillian-Barre Syndrome, Bay's spirit remained strong. His sense of humor, his love for talking, and his zest for life never wavered. His family and friends meant the world to him, and he was always there to lend an ear or share a laugh.

He is survived by his sons, Rodreges Braswell of Chattanooga, TN, Courtney Braswell of Philadelphia, PA; his grandson, Trevon Braswell; sister, Clintonia (Erwin) Norwood of Chattanooga, TN; brother, Rodrick (Rachel Williams) Braswell of Rossville, GA; nephews and nieces, Rico (Moneka) Norwood, Rodrick Braswell Jr., Jomario (Foressa) Norwood, Esby Norwood, and Rachell Braswell; his best friend and brother-in-law, Michael Norwood of Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law, Wilda Norwood Prattis of Fayetteville, NC; cousin, Juanita (James) Fuqua of Chattanooga, TN; special family friend, Edwina Canada of Chattanooga, TN; as well as aunts Barbara and Dolly Ann.

No services will be held at this time.

In honor of Bay's legacy, let us remember him for his unshakeable love for his family, his endless conversations, and the joy he found in life's simplest pleasures.
