Rodney Aaron Nelson, age 40, of Cartersville, Georgia, departed this life Friday April 21, 2017 at the local hospital surrounded by his loving family. Rodney was born on January 12, 1977 in Holden, West Virginia, a son to Rodney Paul Nelson and Melodie Dawn Dempsey Nelson.

He is survived by his wife Christina Smith of Dalton, GA, sons; Austin Blake Nelson of Logan, WV, Brycen Tye Nelson of Garrettsbend, WV, Brendan Carter Nelson of Dalton, GA, his parents; Melodie Nelson of Cartersville, father and step-mother; Rodney Paul and Tina Nelson of Kentucky, brothers; Jeremy Heath Nelson (Regina Mitchell) of Logan, WV, Christopher Chase Nelson of Cartersville, GA, Joshua Nelson of KY. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents; Della and Harrison Runyon of McConnell, WV and an aunt Crystal Singleton( Shane York)of Charleston, WV.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
