Mr. Robert J. West, age 83, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the local hospital. Robert was born February 19, 1933 in Eton, GA, a son of the late Earnest and Effie Blackwell West. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mae Rainey West, brother, Winfred West, sisters, Kathlene Hudspeth, Evelyn Price, Louise Kinney.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Ross and Regena West of Tunnel Hill, GA, Michael Bailey and Barbara Simerley of Ringgold, GA, Allen and Neva Bailey of Tunnel Hill, GA; brother, Billy West; sister, Frances Fitzgerald both of Texas; grandchildren, Jayton West, Cadence West, Austin Busby, RaeAnna Higginbotham, Summer Jennings, Bryson Jennings, Devon Bailey, April Quarles; best friend, Maynard Young of Chatsworth, GA; great granddaughter, Anna Faye Quarles; nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Robert J. West will be held Monday December 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Brother George Cross officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday.
