Mr. Robert Allen Gibson, 78, of Fairmount, Georgia, departed this life Sunday afternoon, April 7, 2019 at Gordon Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Gibson was born on September 18, 1940 in Jasper, Georgia.  He was a son of the late John William and Inez McDaniel Gibson.  Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Claymon and Shirlene Gibson, and Bill Gibson.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army, and was a used car dealer and buyer for himself, and Hudson's Used Cars.  He and his wife were longtime members of Pleasant Grove Ryo Baptist Church in Fairmount.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Sue Johnson Gibson of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, John Gibson of Fairmount, Jeremy and Autumn Gibson of Calhoun, Georgia; grandchildren, Johnathan, Emily, Riley, Rayne, and Barrett Gibson, Laura Bell of McDonough, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Frances Gibson of Chatsworth, Georgia; sister-in-law, Shirley Gibson of Fairmount, Georgia; an uncle, Delmar McDaniel of Jasper, Georgia; several nieces, nephews, and other family also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Robert Gibson will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. from the Pleasant Grove Ryo Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Vines and Reverend Keith Gibson officiating.  Mr. Gibson will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour.  He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with Steve, Johnathan, Matthew, and Phillip Gibson, Junior and Ricky Johnson all serving as pallbearers.

The Gibson family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel.
