Obituary

Mrs. Robbie Lee Cole, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday morning, May 2, 2013 in the comfort of her home. Robbie Lee was born July 8, 1920 in Lincoln County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late George H. and Mattie Lou Walker Gunn. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Bradley Thomas Cole, a sister, Marie Moore, a brother, Wilburn Gunn and sisters-in-law, Jean Bain and Mary Elizabeth Cole.

She was a graduate of Huntland High School in Huntland, TN, David Lipscomb College in Nashville, TN, and Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, TN, where she obtained her teaching degree in elementary education. She taught for over thirty-two years in Whitfield County, most of which was the third grade at Antioch, Eastside and Dawnville. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority and a faithful member of Central Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas "Tom" Cole of the home and would have celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary, September 1, 2013; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Clinton Hicks; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Rebecca Cole all of Dalton, GA; sister, Audrey Comer of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Stephanie and Daniel Busie, Matthew and Sara Hicks, Carrie and Eric Bishop, Aimee Gray and Marla Henderson; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Frank Cole; sister-in-law, Virginia Benson both of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Robbie Lee Cole will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Ross Jordan and Clinton Hick officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Grady Gunn, Edwin Comer, Daniel Busie, Tony Taylor, Eric Bishop and Matthew Hicks serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 12:00 p.m. Saturday morning until the service hour.
