Mrs. Rita Diana York, age 53, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life peacefully Monday, May 23, 2022, surrounded by her family at Erlanger Hospital. She was born on August 10, 1968, in Calhoun, GA. Rita received her cosmetology degree, worked at Shaw Industries and Wellbeing for many years, then later became a caregiver. Her most significant achievement was being a daughter, mother, and nana. Her mother, three daughters and grandchildren were her world. She was an avid traveler that loved waterfalls, the ocean, the mountains, or anything outdoors. She loved all animals, especially her two horses, Gypsy and Dixie, and her dog, Tater. Everyone that had the pleasure of meeting her would agree that she was the kindest, most loving, and one of the best friends you could ask for. She had a heart of gold and could light up the room with her smile. She will forever live on in the memories of everyone that loved her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Dixon, and brother, John Dixon.

She is survived by her mother, Bessie Faye Ralston, of Calhoun, GA; daughters, Brandie Jordan, Jessica Gilbert of Calhoun, GA, Erika Tate of Resaca, GA; grandchildren, Ayden Gilbert, Kyrstyn Carey, Kasen Tate, Aubri Childers, Jaren Ledford, Ava Childers, Ainsley Ledford, Journee Wilson.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Rita Diana York will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home (Calhoun) with Sean Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Cemetery with Brandon Pack, Jonathan Pack, Jeff Pack, Austin York, Corey Ledford and Rodney Duvall serving as pallbearers. Ayden Gilbert, Scott McGuire, Austin McGuire, Timmy Mills and Joey Potts serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022.
