Obituary

Mrs. Rinda Mae Barnette, 68, of Gardener Springs Road, Adairsville, Georgia, departed this life on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Gordon Hospital.
Rinda was born in Calhoun, Georgia, on February 13, 1949, the only daughter of the late William Henry and Minnie Lee Henderson Cook. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Joe Barnette, who passed away in 2009; her grandparents, Mary and Robert Henderson; her brothers and sister-in-law, James and Ann Henderson, Robert Cook, and Charles Cook;
Rinda had lived in Adairsville for the last 36 years of her life, she was most recently a member of the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy in Plainville, Georgia. She had attended the Sugar Valley Schools when she was a child. She loved to ride horses, and absolutely loved dirt track racing. As a matter of fact, she had even driven a dirt track race car in her younger days. Rinda never met a stranger, she had only 3 biological children, but she had raised over 20 boys and girls in her lifetime who needed her love, nurturing, and care. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.
Mrs. Barnette is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and David Gilmore of Calhoun, Georgia, Robin and David Hall of Adairsville, Georgia; her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Barnette and Sharon Silvers of Adairsville; grandchildren, Constance Owens, Randy Wheat, Christopher Wheat, and Dawson Hall; sister-in-law and her husband, Linda and Walter Chastain of Sugar Valley; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Jerry and Jenny Barnette of Dalton, Georgia, Larry & Louise Barnette of Rome, Georgia; several other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Rinda Mae Barnette will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Barnette and Reverend Kenny Bradley officiating.
Rinda will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Fain Cemetery. Danny Matthews, Jeffrey Mulkey, Franklin Akins, Adam Cook, Bobby Cook, and Shane Barnette honored to serve as pallbearers.
An honorary escort will be Randy Wheat, Jeremy Johnson, and Kyle Barnette.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home.
