Mr. Ricky J. Young, age 75, of Cohutta, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday morning, December 21, 2022 at Orchard Ridge Health Care in Dalton, Georgia.

Ricky was born September 13, 1947 in Blue Ridge, Georgia.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Sue Langley Young, who died April 1, 2022, his mother, Freida Mullinax, sister, Deborah Hasty and sisters-in-law, Barbara Lamar and Tenna Holcomb.

Ricky proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.  He received his degree in auto mechanics from Dalton State College. He spent most of his working career in transportation and work many years at Mid-America Trucking.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Angela Young; granddaughter, Nicole Young all of Chatsworth, GA; brother, Randall Townsend of Dalton, GA; nephews and nieces, Garry and Sherry Rice, Deborah Smith and Dale Holcomb, Shelby Romine all of Cedar Bluff, AL, Cindy Dutton, Susan Cooper both of Calhoun, GA, Sammy Lamar of St. Augustine, FL; great-nephews, Scott Rice and Barry Rice of both of Cedar Bluff, AL.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Ricky Joe Young will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Todd Pangle officiating.  He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Gordon County, Georgia.  The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 12:00 p.m. Noon Tuesday until the service hour.
