Obituary

Mr. Richard Allen Solomon, age 87, of Calhoun, GA, passed away Thursday January 5, 2017 at Morning Pointe. Richard was born September 8, 1929 in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania a son to the late Joseph and Rose Schmaley Solomon. Richard was also preceded by his wife Carol Solomon, a brother Joseph Solomon and a sister and brother in law, Irene and Jay Christmas. He graduated from Penn State with a Master's Degree in Chemistry. He was employed by Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan and while there, he was the first ever winner of the very prestigious Vernon S. Stenger Award for Chemist of the year.

Richard is survived by a son and his partner, Richard Solomon and Rebecca Appleton of East Lansing, MI, daughters and sons in law: Suzanne and Barry Arrington of Calhoun, GA, Shari and Rand Thomlinson of Midland, MI, Marie and Roger Thompson of Hersey, MI, Marcey and Chuck Rogers of Humble, TX. He is also survived by a sister and brother in law, Rita and Richard Marino of Oakmont, PA. He had 11 grandchildren, Lauren Norris, Sarah Skelton, Anna Solomon, Derrick and David Thompson, Nicholas Bell, Barry Arrington JR, Amanda Rogers, Jacob Bell, Carter Arrington, Mason Rogers, as well as two great grandchildren Addison and Leah Norris.

The Memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Richard Solomon will be held Sunday January 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm from Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Deacon Brad Krupa officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your local "Meals On Wheels" programs which was dear to Richard's heart.
