Mr. Richard Laymar Smith, age 60, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. Richard was born June 19, 1954 in Dalton, GA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Sue Smith, sister, Delores Thomason, brother, Randy Smith.

He is survived by his father, Raymond Smith of Dalton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Shalonda and Wayne Lyons of Tunnel Hill, GA, Lacie and Michael Forgey of Cleveland, TN, Michell and Chuck Mooney of Cohutta, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Doris Smith of Dalton, GA; sister, Dale Sheffield of Dalton, GA; fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Richard Laymar Smith will be held Thursday June 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
